About Us

Who we are

PaisleyBARK Atlanta officially launched in the Atlanta area 2022. However, rescue has been a part of everyday life for our Founder over the past 15 years. Amire K. Gibson, Founder, Owner and President, is committed to providing the best quality life for all animals. Holding a Master’s Degree in Psychology with a specialization in behavior, Amire has combined her degree with her love and passion for Pitbulls that sets her apart from the rest. Although Amire is originally from California, she has resided in the Atlanta area for over 25+ years. Rescue has become a growing industry, unfortunately not for the better as the need for support with Pitbulls in crisis continues to soar. There are so many homeless dogs in general nationwide. Dogs are being euthanized at shelters at alarming rates, simply to make space for more. A significant number of those dogs are Pitbulls, Pit Mixes and Bully Breeds.

What Is A Pitbull?

When you envision the image of a Pitbull, most see a muscular, medium- large sized dog who boasts a broad head and a deep chest. However, you might be surprised to learn that there is no such thing as a “Pit-Bull.” Because the Pitbull is not breed specific. The word Pitbull is actually an umbrella term used as an identifier for several breeds combined into one, and often referred to as “Bully Breeds.” Therefore, Pitbulls are not a single breed of dog, but rather a general term for a TYPE of dog that includes multiple breeds and mixed breed dogs. “Pitbull” is often used as a blanket term for dogs that resemble the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier. Essentially, there is no such thing as a purebred Pitbull, although the name is used as shorthand for the purebred American pit bull terrier.

Our Success Stories

“Oden and Kooper came to us as three week old Belgian Malinois/Pitbull Mix puppies from a litter of ELEVEN!” We were contacted by the owner with hopes of helping her with feeding the puppies and finding them new homes. Through the connections and resources of PaisleyBARK Atlanta, we were able to bottle feed and rehome five puppies, keeping two who needed to be bottle fed a while longer and needed a little bit more extra love and care as the smaller puppies of the litter. Kooper (Black Brindle) was rehomed several months later. There is a sweet picture below of his ride to SC to live in his new home! Unfortunately, Oden (Brown with black face) experienced a bad fall at 8 months old and had to endure a major surgery, which resulted in his left hind leg being amputated. Fortunately for US, Oden has remained a part of our family and is the biggest…FASTEST tripod that we know! Oden is a special addition to the PaisleyBARK Atlanta family and he was our FIRST foster fail as an organization!

We love you Odie!❤️
