why fostering is important

Great fosters are essential for any rescue group – luckily, we have the best! As a foster-based organization, we rely on our foster homes to provide the love and care that our dogs need until they find their own forever homes. We know how hard it is for rescue groups to find committed foster homes. We appreciate you and everything you do! Our promise is that we will never take our fosters for granted. Our foster homes are in place when needed. We strive to be available for our fosters should they need assistance or guidance regarding any of our dogs.

One of the most common questions we receive as an organization is “How much does it cost to foster?” PaisleyBark Atlanta provides all of the food, supplies, preventatives and medical treatment needed for our dogs. Many foster homes like to buy toys, treats, special collars or other items for their fosters, but it is not expected. We like to make fostering as inexpensive as we can for our foster families. The process for becoming a PB foster is similar to our adoption process. You will complete an application, vet check and home visit.

You must also live within the Metro Atlanta area or neighboring areas. Our hope is to find fosters within a 25-30 mile radius in order to reduce your travel time bringing your foster to an adoption event or a vet checkup. We will make exceptions for those living just a few miles outside of the radius as long as you are willing to transport as needed.

It is imperative that we have as many fully vetted, approved, and committed fosters who are willing AND ABLE to accommodate the dogs that we take in. We will never take in a dog without organizing a safe and stable place for that dog to live. PaisleyBARK Atlanta believes that a real foster home is a better living environment vs “Bulk Boarding” and it reduces feelings of anxiety that are usually created by large boarding situations with multiple dogs. However, PaisleyBARK Atlanta will also take in homeless Pitbull’s as space allows, and will provide a safe and free roam, environment as an organization for as long as required

Requirements For Fostering With PB

You must primarily live local to Metro Atlanta.
You must be willing/able to bring your foster to vet appointments as needed. These appointments will be scheduled locally.
You must be willing to help us market your foster by providing updated photos/videos and any additional content as needed.
You must be committed to caring for your foster dog until he/she is adopted.
The current pets residing in your home must be spayed/neutered AND be up to date on vet care, to include vaccinations and heartworm preventative.
